Facing north east. I try to optimize the subject matter of my pixel paintings so I can get the clearest image with the least pixels possible. The beach always seems to work well, and it’s one of the first thing I tried because I live on the beach on the North Shore of Massachusetts. Certain subject matters work better than others because they leverage our brains object detection capabilities and pattern recognition. It’s still fascinating to me how the tiniest changes in color and brightness can render a form that we recognize as a human. The man in the white shirt in the bottom left corner of the painting ~10 pixels tall.
